The Leo Constellation was discovered by early humans as it is the most visible one in the night sky. The Egyptians and the Sumerians were aware of the constellation and may have passed on their knowledge to the Greeks, Persians and the Romans. Pliny had claimed that Leo was worshiped by the Egyptians because Nile River, the lifeline of Egypt, rose when the sun was in that sign. It also played an important role in the astronomy, religion and culture of the Egyptian civilization.
