The East Texas Oil Field is one of the largest gas and oil field of the United States. It is located in the Eastern Texas (US State). It covers an area of Texas’s five counties such as Cherokee, Upshur, Rusk, Gregg and Smith. Its length is approximately 72 kilometers on the axis of north-south.
It was discovered in 1930 by American oilman and geologist, Columbus Marion (“Dad”) Joiner. He was born on 12 March, 1860.
