The constellation Sagittarius was known to the early civilizations. A reference to it can be found among the records of most of the ancient civilizations. The Babylonians referred to it as the Pabilsag or Nergal. The Greeks envisioned Sagittarius as a creature, half horse and half man. Sagittarius appears to be a world of light when seen through a telescope. It means “the archer” in Latin. It contains a lot of glittering nebulae.
