Bipolar Disorder is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a category of mood disorders. It is a disastrous mental disorder. It causes abnormal elevation in the mood of a person. It is also known as manic–depressive disorder and manic depression.
It was first identified in 2nd century by ancient Greek physician Aretaeus of Cappadocia. Jules Gabriel Francois Baillarger, a French psychiatrist separating the two disorders through his studies. In 1913, German psychiatrist Emeril Krapelin defined it as manic depression.
